In Honor of Valentine

Love

What is love?

Could someone tell me, if you know?

Is it chocolate and flowers,

Or Cupid with his bow?

Is it what brings a smile to your face?

An ooey, gooey feeling?

Or is it that pain in your heart,

From a wound that’s still healing?

Is it a choice?

A commitment to forever?

Is it encouragement,

To “Never say never”?

We all have known one

To make our heart skip a beat

Many are yet waiting

For the right person to meet.

Too often we have found

That with happiness comes hurt.

The one you thought would be true

Goes and leaves you in the lurch.

But there is still hope!

Don’t give in to despair.

Love is here, all around you!

It tingles in the air.

There is One

Who will always be by your side.

He will come and comfort you,

Wipe away the tears you’ve cried.

His name is Jesus.

Yes, He is the One.

A Father’s gift to humanity,

God’s one and only Son.

He stands ever before you,

Holding out His hand.

Will you accept True Love,

And cease fruitless demands?

“I love you,” He whispers,

With emotion in His eyes.

“I gave it all for you,

You’re why I came to die.”

He is here.

He is waiting.

He is ready.

He is calling.

If you were to accept this offer,

Of love with a face and a name,

You wouldn’t regret your choice,

But you would never be the same.

May you find True Love in this season honoring St. Valentine.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
–John 15:13

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
–1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13

Wait

Sometimes, the hardest answer to hear from God is "wait." My friend just recommended this poem to me, though. It's called "Wait" by Russell Kelfer. If anyone has ever been going through a difficult time and feels like God is saying neither "yes," nor "no," then this is the poem for you. It is a beautiful representation of the inner turmoil we as humans experience in such a situation, yet reminds of the love God still has for us and how He has a bigger plan. I highly recommend you read it!

His Promise

For His anger is but for a moment,

His favor is for life;

Weeping may endure for a night,

But joy comes in the morning.

-Psalm 30:5, NKJV
